How does plex86 relate to FreeMWare?

The new name for the project is plex86, the old name was FreeMWare.
  It is the same project.

Will plex86 be ported to non x86 platforms?

No. The virtualization concepts from this project carry over
to other platforms, but the implementation is *extremely*
specific to x86. We also use the processor to run most code
  natively.

Is there a {Windows, BeOS, *BSD, Solaris} version of plex86? Is
anyone working on one ?

Currently we are focusing our efforts on producing an initial release for
x86 Linux as quickly as possible. We are keeping portability issues in mind
and there will be opportunities for people to work on other targets later.

What license is plex86 being developed under?

LGPL, the GNU Lesser General Public License. Thus plex86 is
  an open source project.

Will we be guest OS be able to use devices that the host OS
does not have drivers for, such as a winmodem?

We are going to try to add a 'pass-through' capability. There are
some issues surrounding DMA, PnP, etc that need to be worked out,
depending on the device in question. But this is a very useful
feature which many people have asked for, so it will likely get
  a lot of coding attention.
